The Montessori Method was developed by Maria Montessori, an Italian Physician and educator. She developed a method where teachers encourage independence among their pupils. Dr. Montessori believed that children learn better when they’re choosing what to learn, and that philosophy is present in Montessori classrooms today. A Montessori education develops students to have a strong sense of themselves they will need to thrive in the real world. Children having the experience to decide things for themselves is a great example of them being able to decide what they want in the world. I’ve been in a Montessori School since kindergarten. Going to a Montessori School opened me up to different things that I never tried before like camping. I'd never been camping before or traveled on a plane. I like being a Montessori school because it's basically self-paced which is easier and we make our own choices. Being student from Montessori school I would say has its pros and cons. Pros; great teaching, being able to be independent, understanding teachers and social interaction. Everyone's experience with Montessori methods might not be a good experience. Cons: Might not be accessible to other people and other people might not like independence.
